Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates who want to live and work in Canada's four Atlantic provinces: Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. This employer-driven program connects eligible candidates with businesses in the region that need to fill labour shortages. To be eligible, candidates must meet specific work experience, education, and language proficiency requirements, and have a qualifying job offer from a designated employer within the Atlantic region.

The AIP is designed to attract and retain talented individuals in Atlantic Canada. Employers play a crucial role by first getting designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and then actively recruiting foreign nationals. Once an employer has identified a suitable candidate, they work together to create a needs assessment and a settlement plan. This plan outlines how the employer will support the immigrant and their family as they transition to life in Canada. Upon receiving a job offer and settlement plan, candidates can apply for permanent residence through the AIP.
