Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) is one of the most popular pathways for skilled professionals to immigrate to Canada. It is managed under the Express Entry system, Canada's online application management system for several economic immigration programs. To be eligible, applicants must meet specific criteria related to education, work experience in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification - NOC TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3), language proficiency in English or French, and other factors like age and whether they have a valid job offer. IRCC uses a points system to assess candidates.
Eligibility for the FSW program is assessed based on a points grid. Key factors include your skills, education, language abilities, age, adaptability, and employment. You must have at least one year of continuous, full-time or equivalent part-time, paid work experience in the last 10 years in a skilled occupation. This work experience must be in a qualifying NOC TEER category. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection; candidates are ranked in the Express Entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and only those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residency.
